The first intuition for consumers to choose a lipstick is the shade of the lipstick, so the lipstick colorant is the most important in the lipstick composition. With the exception of rouge, most colorants used in lipsticks are synthetic. Generally, it can be divided into three categories: organic colorants, mineral pigments, and pearlescent pigments.
(1) Organic colorants: aluminum, calcium, or barium lakes. Due to different cosmetic regulations in different countries around the world, the colorants allowed in lip cosmetic products are different.
(2) Mineral colorant: It is the most used colorant in lipstick, accounting for about 70 percent of the total colorant used in lipstick. Generally divided into titanium dioxide, synthetic iron oxide, kaolin.
(3) Pearlescent pigments: mainly titanium dioxide/mica, mica/titanium dioxide/iron oxide and bismuth oxychloride.
(4) Bromic acid dyes: The general term for brominated fluorescein dyes, including dibromo fluorescein, tetrabromo fluorescein and tetrabromotetrachloro fluorescein.
